So close... Yet survived!!!
You must be wondering why I wrote ‘slow motion’ at the end of first part… That’s because, everything I wrote inside the space happened within 5 seconds! Anyways… Let me continue…
…I could stand… I opened the windshields of my helmet so that I could breathe easily… Surprisingly, I was fine without much damage… I walked near my bike… It was laying couple of yards away on the road; the engines were still running... I felt as if it was crying out loud, it was hurt too. Only damage I could see at that moment was one of the rear mirror was torn apart and some bruises on its body. I checked mine. I was fine, only thing was my hands had some cuts due to which it looked red (blood)… I asked the other person (the fellow with whom I collided) who looked just fine. Two pedestrians who saw the incident live came running towards the spot just to check if I was ok…
First – the other fellow shouldn't have come on a wrong side when there is a separate road for them over the other side of dividers. I don’t know why I didn't feel like arguing as it was still raining heavily. I lifted my bike and checked if I can ride back home safely… The foot rest was bent so it was difficult to kick start… But somehow I managed and started again… I was little shocked after the incident and only thing that was going in my mind was ‘what to tell my parents’… This time I kept the windshield of helmet open to get a clear view of the road. I reduced the speed and after 5 min, I reached my place.
I kept my bike, went inside where my mom was waiting with a towel. By the look on my face, she sensed something was wrong and inquired if everything was fine… I told them what happened and soon their look on the face changed. I checked my hands, legs to see how much bruises I have got… My hands had some which looked a bit severe but otherwise I was just lucky to escape. My dad insisted I should go to the doc immediately for a tetanus injection… I agreed and went to the doc nearby. He cleaned up my wound and gave the injection. While coming back from the doc clinic, all that happened came to my mind like a slide show. I was little upset. And then, I could feel some pain.
I reached home and then I realized how crucial it was to wear a helmet. My helmet had several wounds and bruises… It had taken all the pain that could have easily taken up by my head instead - if I had not worn it on that day… It would have been a different story altogether… Probably, they had to take me to the nearest hospital… I would have still lying on the hospital bed by this time slowly recovering… This blog would have written on some other day… Or who knows… My last post on this blog could have been the last of my life!!!
Looking back at the incident, I thank god for restricting the intensity and level of damage. That night, I pondered over the incident for some time.
My bike had go through some service the next morning which took 700 bugs overall… But that’s just fine. I couldn't concentrate much on my work so I decided to take a day off the next morning.
So, all my biker friends… Please note…
Always wear helmet while riding the bike...
Use dim/dip feature of yo headlight wisely…
Avoid traveling when it’s raining heavily and if you have to go, go slowly.
Don’t close your helmets windshield when it is raining… Coz, the water drops can block your sight…
